Tremayne Frauenfelder, Creator of Miniatures and Dioramas
Trinidad-born and Port of Spain resident Tremayne Frauenfelder creates one-of-a-
kind miniatures and dioramas that capture slices of Trinidad and Tobago life. His
works evoke nostalgia and easily draw the viewer in, and he has been doing this full-
time since 2010.
Born on April 22nd 1980, Tremayne received his education at the Mount Lambert
RC school, Aranguez Junior Secondary, and Mucurapo Senior Comprehensive. Even
then he had a great love for art and was always observant about his surroundings, a
childhood skill which continues to serve him well with his creative style.
Using materials he gets from local hardware stores, each element is shaped, painted
and placed with care for each scene, mirroring his observances and recreating
historical and sometimes personal memories. Working both organically and also
from photographs and detailed drawings, he also considers himself both a pioneer of
Trinidad and Tobago’s culture, historic sites and buildings, and also a bit of a
maverick because he goes against the grain, and he enjoys that very much.
Tremayne Frauenfelder’s Artist Statement:
“Me being me, I don’t put the artist side of me first. I consider myself an individual
first because of my love for people, and an artist second. Even though I struggle
with receiving attention sometimes, I know it’s necessary because I am an artist. So I
live my life how I do my art, with the same passion I have of being nice to others,
loving togetherness, and making friends. I see the beautiful, and I capture it in
miniature.”
